Superintendent-Principal's Message

SJCA SHARKS,
I am filled with excitement and pride as we welcome you back for another incredible year! As we begin our 28th year at San Jose Charter Academy, we are thrilled to focus on our theme: "Power Up from Within." This theme reminds us that true strength, confidence, and success come from nurturing ourselves—mind, body, and spirit. When we power up from within, we unlock our potential to achieve academic excellence, cultivate wellness, build strong character, and lead forward with purpose.
Looking back on my years here at SJCA, I see how much we've accomplished when we focus on developing the whole person. What makes our SJCA community truly special is the journey we take together—from our little explorers in TK and kindergarten discovering the magic in everyday learning, to our confident eighth-grade leaders preparing to embrace new challenges. Over these transformative years, our students grow and flourish, and relationships between our families deepen and strengthen.. Parents and caregivers become our partners in this journey, learning and evolving as their children develop from curious young learners into confident, capable leaders ready to make their mark on the world.
This year, alongside our commitment to rigorous academics, we prioritize your wellness—helping you develop healthy habits, emotional resilience, and balance. We will continue building character through our Core Values and the 7 Habits, empowering you to make positive choices and treat others with kindness and respect. And we will challenge you to lead forward, using your unique talents and perspectives to make a positive impact in our school community and beyond. Our dedicated staff is committed to creating an environment where every Shark feels supported, challenged, and inspired to power up from within. We believe that when you take care of your mind, body, and character, you become unstoppable in pursuing your dreams and making a difference in the world.
As we prepare to welcome our Sharks back, I encourage you to embrace this opportunity to Power Up from Within. Set goals for yourself, celebrate your growth, and believe in your ability to achieve extraordinary things.
Our staff has returned this week to prepare to welcome each Shark and their families on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025. School will be dismissed at 12:45p on Tuesday and Wednesday and 3:15p on Thursday and Friday.
Together, we will make this a year of growth, discovery, and endless possibilities.
BE BOLD BE BRAVE BE YOU
With great joy and excitement,

Erin Shiroma
Superintendent-Principal
