2) Begin with the End in Mind -Clearly visualize your goals and life vision
3) Put First Things First -Prioritize tasks based on importance, not urgency
4) Think Win-Win -Look for solutions that benefit everyone involved in a situation
5) Seek First to Understand - Listen actively to others before trying to be understood yourself
6) Then Be Understood - Collaborate with others to create better results than working alone
7) Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw - Continuously improve yourself physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually
Schools use a Lighthouse Rubric to measure outcomes in three areas: teaching leadership principles, creating a leadership culture, and aligning academic systems. Schools also measure their success as it relates to their unique school. Lighthouse Schools serve as exemplars to their community and other schools. Lighthouse Certification is a highly regarded standard of achievement that is attainable by every Leader in Me School.
At San Jose Charter Academy, our ASB (Associated Student Body) leadership program offers students an invaluable opportunity to develop and hone their leadership skills. Through active participation in ASB, students engage in planning and organizing school events and fostering a positive school culture. This experience cultivates essential qualities such as responsibility, collaboration, and effective communication. The benefits of being part of ASB extend beyond the classroom, empowering students to become confident, proactive leaders who can inspire and motivate their peers. Join ASB at San Jose Charter Academy and watch your child transform into a dynamic, capable leader!
The Rising Up Coaching program is a peer mediation program designed to teach middle school students how to develop valuable life skills that will enhance their self-development. This program focuses on inspiring students to build resiliency and find growth in adversity.
By giving the Rising Up students coaches the opportunity to coach and mentor younger students, the coaches will learn more about their own abilities and strengths, and it is this core sense of self-worth that will lead them to success at the next level of their education, and beyond.
This program creates a more positive school environment by helping extend the social-emotional support and guidance efforts on campus. It also supports and enhance other school programs and helps build a strong student leadership foundation.
The Builders Club is a middle school student-led club that provides students with opportunities for working together in service to school and community. Builders Club helps their members develop leadership potential, foster the development of strong moral character, and develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service.
How does the Builders Club help improve school culture?
The Builders Club students help improve the school culture by being role models, encouraging and guiding others to serve and do the right thing, even when it might be the unpopular choice. The Builders Club members also help school culture by caring for those experiencing adversity, and accepting and welcoming differences in everyone.
